In-Patient Pharmacy Manager

M.P Shah Hospital is looking to recruit professional, and evidence driven person for a vacancy in In-Patient Pharmacy Manager position (1 – Position).

Reporting to the Head of Pharmacy, the In-Patient Pharmacy Manager will establish controls and evaluate the effectiveness of staff, equipment, inpatient pharmacy programs. The role is responsible for implementing of policies and procedures for inpatient pharmacy services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Pharmacy Operations-Manage and supervise all aspects of inpatient pharmacy operations including preparation/dispensing of medications/supplies, purchasing, inventory control and quality management to ensure cost effective and safe utilization of drug supplies and employee time.
  2. Quality Management- Responsible for the delivery of high-quality pharmacy service in primary care, satellite pharmacy for inpatient services to assure patients receive the correct drug therapy.
  3. Inventory and Stock Control – Direct the maintenance of inventories and purchase contracts for medical or hospital supplies; maintains stocks of medicines in the central pharmacy and at various supply points throughout the hospital.
  4. Promote awareness and growth of pharmacy services by identifying and suggesting new programs and services that pharmacy could offer for the benefit of the inpatients. Stays abreast with developments in specialty area to ensure services provided are progressive and meet the needs of the patients.
  5. Compliance – Operate in compliance with all regulatory bodies to ensure all staff of the Pharmacy Department maintain up-to-date licensure and education and with all accrediting body standards as they relate to the Inpatient Pharmacy.
  6. Staff Training – Evaluates and verifies staff performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques. Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
  7. Data Processing and Management- Analyse and Interpret prescribing and population data by making intelligent comparisons in the quality and effectiveness of prescribing to facilitate decision making.

Qualifications & Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution
  2. Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  3. Member of Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya
  4. 5 years post graduate work experience in a Hospital set up is an added advantage
