M.P Shah Hospital is looking to recruit professional, and evidence driven person for a vacancy as Phlebotomist position (3 – Positions)

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Phlebotomist will attend to patients at laboratory reception area for collection of samples, distribution of tests in the system, bleeding of donors and registration of donors in the system.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Collect blood samples from both in-patients and out-patients.
2. Perform coagulation screening for causes of bleeding disorders.
3. Receive clients and collect blood at the main laboratory from time to time.
4. Ensuring that correct test entries are made and correct tests are charged to the patients.
5. Ensure that appropriate samples are received with relevant details both on the specimen bottles and
6. request forms.
7. Routinely collect swabs for diagnostic purposes on out-patients i.e. COVID, PAP, HVS, etc.
8. Perform tuberculin/Mantoux tests on both in-patients and out-patients.
9. Attend to patients’ queries at reception area.
10. Distribute samples to respective sections in the system.
11. Attend to blood donors in the blood donor unit and bleed them whenever necessary.
12. Decontamination of work benches in the phlebotomy working area.
13. Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
14. Participate in continuous medical education.
15. Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor or designee.

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Certificate in Phlebotomy
2. 2 years’ experience in a busy hospital set-up
