DR. KAREN MBAABU

Dr. Karen Mbaabu is a newly appointed breast surgeon in the Surgery department.  She is a conscientious and highly motivated surgeon who is skilful at performing a wide range of surgical procedures.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Dr. Mbaabu is joining us from the Luton & Dunstable University Hospital in Luton, England where she was working in the Breast Surgery Unit since 2019.  She had previously worked as the Resident Surgeon at both The Mater Hospital and The Aga Khan University Hospital where she gained immense experience since 2011.  She has attended numerous international training sessions in breast surgery.  She is qualified in performing breast ultrasound guided procedures’.

QUALIFICATIONS

Dr. Karen is currently pursuing her second Masters in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery with her first one being in General Surgery (MMed.Surg) from England and The Aga Khan University respectively.  She graduated from the University of Nairobi in 2006 with a Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery (MBChB).  Dr. Karen also has a Diploma in Information Systems Management from Strathmore University.  She also has breast ultrasound training from Kingstone University, London as well as a post graduate certificate in surgical leadership from Harvard medical school.
