M.P Shah Hospital is seeking a dedicated and evidence-driven professional to fill the role of Medical-Surgical Nurse Manager within the Nursing Division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the assigned medical-surgical unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, managing nursing staff, and fostering a positive work environment. This position also involves coordinating patient care, budget management, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and supporting professional development for the team.
ADVERTISEMENT-MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSE MANAGER
This position reports to the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
- Supervise, mentor, coach, and evaluate the performance of nursing staff.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective scheduling to provide optimal patient care
- Identify, and develop competence development and training plans for staff.
- Conduct, regular team meetings and provide ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in alignment with best practices and organizational goals.
2. Patient Care:
- Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care is delivered consistently.
- Address patient complaints and concerns promptly and effectively.
- Oversee patient admissions, discharges, and transfers to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
3. Operational Management:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the nursing unit or department.
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets, including staffing, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
4. Quality Improvement:
- Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Collect and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
5. Collaboration
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and departments to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and other hospital departments.
- Participate in hospital committees and task forces as needed.
- Take up hospital administrative shifts and coverage.

Qualifications, Regulatory & Legal Requirements
1. Must be a qualified Registered Nurse (KRN/RM/KRCHN/KRNM/KRNMPH/BSCN).
2. Must have a higher diploma in a nursing field or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a relevant basic degree from a recognized institution
3. Certification courses on management or leadership is an added advantage.
4. Must have a valid licensure from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
5. Minimum twelve (12) years of nursing experience with three years in a leadership or managerial role.
6. Must have a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
7. Previous leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting.
