The Suryakala Maganbhai Children’s Medical Centre was officially opened on Sunday March 18, 2018 by philanthropist Dr.Maganbhai Chandaria in a colourful ceremony that was attended by friends of the hospital, members of the board of governance, senior hospital management and members of staff.

The paedriatic unit focuses on child healthcare and is equipped with modern state-of-the-art facilities for both outpatient and inpatient services, including paedriatic ICUs, neonatal ICUs, well-baby and pediatric specialty clinics.

From its humble beginnings of attending to about 20 paediatric patients monthly when its doors first opened, the facility has grown in few months to cater for over 2,000 patients every month in a modern hospital complex that has gained countrywide recognition for its quality care, cutting-edge research, ethics and charitable outreach.

The hospital treated children with congenital heart problems when the hospital partnered with Medical Educational Aid to Kenya (MEAK) and Healing Little Hearts to conduct free heart surgeries.

In his keynote speech, Dr. Maganbhai commended the hospital for taking an important step into taking care of children’s medical needs and for providing quality but affordable healthcare in a friendly motivated environment.

Chairman of the hospital’s board of governance, Dr. Manoj Shah, expressed optimism that the new ultra-modern facility would touch lives of many children in the country and leave a rich legacy for generations to come. He outlined the hospital’s expansion plans and thanked the Chandaria family for always supporting the vision of the hospital.. It was also attended by Nairobi City County Health Executive Dr. Hitan Majevdia.
